Reporting into the Packaging and Logistics Manager you will be responsible for supervising the operation of the warehouses whilst maintaining good standards of Safety and GMP.  As well as line management of warehouse team and controlling the planned availability of materials required for Production and Packing to meet the company sales objectives.

About the role

  • To work as part of the Operations Team keeping it informed of problems or potential issues
  • To maintain headcount at authorised level, through the interviewing and recruitment of new staff
  • To develop staff performance and morale through regular meetings, continuous training, development reviews, and appraisals adopting a culture of continuous improvement, in line with Company Policy of being an Investor in People
  • Maintain good housekeeping, GMP and a safe working environment
  • Responsibility for compliance with company controlled drugs procedures
  • To obtain optimum use of equipment and manpower to achieve weekly targets, with respect to quality and quantity of output
  • To liaise with Packaging and Production Departments on a daily basis to ensure continuity of materials needed to achieve the companies daily and weekly plans
  • To maintain discipline and where necessary the enforcement of company rules through judicious use of the company disciplinary policy
  • To ensure that machinery and warehouse locations are adequately maintained by raising maintenance request and liaising with outside contractors to complete any necessary work
  • Ensure that all Operatives are trained in using correct manual handling equipment and practice correct manual handling techniques when lifting
  • Deputise for the Commercial Manager in their absence
  • Induction and training of new staff, including initial assessment of forklift driving ability
  • Ensure that appropriate up-to date SOP’s are available for all tasks within the warehouse and that staff are up to date with those they need to know
  • Update SOP’s as required
  • Ensure that staff members are multi-skilled and can do all tasks in all warehouses when required
  • Liaise with the warehouse H&S representative to ensure any recommendations are investigated
  • Place Orders as required and check status of orders with suppliers and if needed to revise delivery dates accordingly
  • Oversee Cyclic stock taking and make adjustments as required on Axapta
  • Do monthly Expired Stock report that can be sent to QC
  • Warehouse Capacity Reporting
  • Monthly report to Customers on stock we are holding of their supplied material to-gether with any usage details that has taken place
  • Monitor deliveries on a day to day basis and chase those overdue
  • Advise departments who need to know what orders are due each week
  • Manage Waste Disposal and Rejected Stock
  • Post material usage and receipt completed jobs on Axapta
  • Supplier Performance evaluation
  • Move stock as required to correct Warehouse on Axapta and transact when returned to supplier
  • CD Stock reporting
  • Raise Change Controls as required
  • To make such decisions as necessary for the smooth running of the department

About You

Desired qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Counter Balance & Reach Truck License (both preferred Reach Truck minimum)
  • English & Maths GCSE level or equivalent
  • Considerable experience of driving fork lift trucks
  • Good knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office
  • Axapta Stock Control System or similar System
  • Previous supervisory experience or have undertaken training
  • Fully conversant with GMP and H&S requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the strength of character to keep focussed on goals and objectives whilst respecting others
  • Excellent organisation and delegation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks without potentially conflicting requirements
  • Analytical mind set for resolution of problems with ability to understand failure root cause and prevent reoccurrence
